BOV launches offers for Visa Classic cardholders, students

Bank of Valletta had launched a promotion for customers taking up new BOV VISA Classic cards, as well as the 2017 BOV Club package for students.

VISA classic cardholders who apply for their new card until 10 September are eligible to participate in this promotion and win various prizes, while the BOV Club Package provides the basic banking solutions for students.

Speaking about the promotion on VISA Classic cardholders, Ivo Camilleri, executive head of electronic banking, said that all those who acquire their new card and use €500 worth of retail transactions with it within the first two months will get a full refund of their card fee for the first year.

“The aim of this initiative is to encourage more people to discover first-hand the benefits linked to this credit card, by giving them an added incentive to do so,” Camilleri explained.

Among the advantages represented by the credit card, Camilleri highlighted the convenience, versatility and peace of mind offered by the card, as well as support services like the BOV 3D Secure, which gives the card holder an added level of security at no extra charge when paying for online shopping with any BOV card.

Camilleri added that the Bank will be holding four lottery draws among those who take up a new BOV VISA Classic Card during the period of the campaign. At each draw four winners will walk away with their own GoPro Hero 5.

“Finally we shall be giving away a 12-inch Macbook laptop to one lucky winner from among all those who take up a BOV VISA Classic Card during the promotion period,” he said.

The first draw will take place on 17 July.

On his part, BOV Head responsible for the BOV Club Package Karl Spiteri explained that the BOV Club package was designed to be an introductory offer for young students who are banking for the first time.

According to the bank, the BOV Club package is intended to be a stepping stone for students progressing from secondary to tertiary level of education, offering a suite of welcome offers to new members or those renewing their membership.

Among the key benefits included in the package, there is the BOV Student eAccount which offers easy accessibility along with a higher rate of interest and unsecured student loans with no processing fees.

The package also includes the free life cover that the bank.

Self-service banking solutions include a BOV Visa Classic or BOV MasterCard with a credit limit of €500, fee-free for the first year. The BOV 24x7 Services suite is also included fee-free for the first year.
