Illegal structures and scrap material being removed from ODZ site

Enforcement officers are demolishing illegally built structures and scrap material in the limits of Safi, with the site being reinstated for its original purpose

Enforcement officers within the Planning Authority began demolishing a large concrete platform yesterday, which was built without planning permission in a field, in the limits of Safi.

According to the Planning Authority, the enforcement action will also include the demolition of an illegally built store room and two 6 course stone walls. A large quantity of materials and objects which include plastic containers, gas cylinders, wooden pallets, truck tyres, concrete bricks and plastic pipes also started being removed during the operation.

The site owner is co-operating fully and assisting in the removing of the illegalities.

In the coming days, the Authority will ensure that the site, which is located in the area known as il-Hlantun, will be reinstated to its original purpose, that of agricultural use.
