Police investigations continued as more holidaymakers who had their vacation cancelled by travel company Fantasy Tours came forward. The police had already received about 60 such reports by Thursday night and another 80 reached the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority.

The company cancelled tours via SMS on Wednesday, hours after urging those people who had booked holidays to also book and pay for excursions. One woman commented that she had paid more than €3,000 for a holiday that never took place.

The consumer watchdog had warned customers against Fantasy Tours in October last year, following several complaints.

It is stated here that the consumer "watchdog"(MCCAA) -more like a sleeping lapdog -"warned " consumers against Fantasy Tours -but what form of warning was this?As all it stated was that Fantasy Tours was performing "unsatisfactory service " whatever that meant when they( the MCCAA along with the MTA) had known for years that Fanatsy Tous were consistently breaching codes of conduct and failing to comply with contractual obligations -yet no one shut them down. What use is a "public warning"if all it provides is this "unsatisfactory service " claim without telling the public the other vital information? No one stopped Fantasy from trading despite their massive failings!
