Over 300 budget proposals submitted by MCESD members
Finance minister meets social partners to listen to their proposals for Budget 2015
Finance minister Edward Scicluna has received over 300 proposals from members of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) following the publication of the 2015 pre-budget document.
Since the publication of the document, 23 MCESD members have submitted their proposals.
Addressing the council members this morning, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said that the sole aim of the consultation process was that of "listening" to all stakeholders.
He explained that proposals submitted range from education to public administration and from tourism to social services.
Pointing out that this morning’s meeting was the seventh of its kind in a matter of weeks, Scicluna said "contrary to previous governments we are consulting all stakeholders from a very early stage”.
The MCESD meeting was also addressed by Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli who invited stakeholders to voice their opinions.
Insisting that "everyone has been given an opportunity to participate in the consultation process" Dalli said that the government was committed to involve and reach all sectors in society.
