Hammer-wielding thief holds up Msida store
Hooded man wielding a hammer makes off with around €250 in Msida hold-up, police on the hunt for robber.
A hooded man carrying a hammer made off with around €250 during a hold-up at a convenience shop this evening in Triq Jerry Zammit, Msida.
Police said the incident occurred this evening at around 6:30pm at the ‘Step In’ convenience store, when an unidentified man carrying a hammer entered into the shop and made off with an amount of cash from the cash register.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the man - who is believed to be Maltese - made off with around €250. The man is believed to have been wearing black sunglasses, a green jacket, and a scarf to cover his face.
The robber is believed to have left the hammer at the scene of the crime before fleeing. A salesgirl who was in the shop at the time of the hold-up was unharmed.
Police investigations are ongoing while an inquiry has been ordered.
