Anti-divorce movement makes song and dance of divorce issue

The Zwieg Bla Divorzju anti-divorce movement had its heart set on Ludwig and Julia’s “Intensity” as a campaign anthem – before the song’s low appeal caused it to think twice.

Correspondence seen by MaltaToday reveals that in discussions between leading proponents of the anti-divorce camp Zwieg Bla Divorzju, the activists were originally in favour of adopting the melodious duet as their anti-divorce campaign anthem.

The song, a romantic affair that sees Ludwig and Julia waxing lyrical about an eternal love that never dies, is available for viewing on Youtube. However, the song has so far racked up less than 150 hits in over a year since it was uploaded.

In fact, this low appeal is one of the reasons that lead the anti-divorce camp head honchos to rethink the choice they had set their hearts on. “It’s not catchy. It is hard to sing or hum,” one prominent activist writes.

The resulting discussion seemed to propel the camp towards a new direction: that of having a new song written and recorded and sung by a variety of different performers and personality.

This style of ‘anthem’ is very much in the vein of the politically-inspired theme songs which form part of election campaigns and are played endlessly come election time.

Invariably, the songs are more of a parade of the party’s respective supporters than pieces of music in their own right.

Furthermore, the singing duo Julie and Ludwig's fate was not one of eternal 'love', as became known publically when Ludwig admitted on Xarabank that the two had split up some time ago.
