As 32,000 voting documents remain uncollected, collection time of the documents from the police stations or local council offices has been extended to 10pm.
Today is the last day citizens can collect their voting documents from their locality. As from next Monday, voting documents can be collected from the Electoral Office between 8pm and 2pm and 3pm and 9pm. The Electoral Office will remain open until midnight on Thursday.
Political parties, especially the Labour Party, have intensified their efforts to mobilise the section of the electorate that wants to register a protest vote. The 32,000 uncollected documents represent 9% of the total eligible voters.
The first round of voting in the European Parliament elections started today at elderly residences who host over 50 residents. Voters who will be abroad next Saturday can also vote today at the Naxxar counting hall.
The majority of uncollected votes during the door-to-door distribution was registered in Zebbug, Gozo, were over 37% of the documents could not be handed over.
In Malta, 33% of the voting documents remained undelivered in St Paul’s Bay.
