Travel arrangements are being made for eligible voters living abroad to enable them to vote in Malta at the forthcoming Referendum on 28 May 2011.

Air Malta will be making available return air tickets at a charge of €35, inclusive of taxes and other charges, to persons who are eligible to vote in Malta at the forthcoming Referendum.

Reservations, which will be open as from noon Wednesday 11 May, may be made at an Air Malta call centre on these specific numbers: overseas calls on (+356) 23645321 and local calls on 23645321.

These travel arrangements will be for the period Friday 20 May 2011 to Sunday 5 June 201, both days inclusive and are valid for:

Persons to whom this directive applies must be eligible voters whose name appears in the Electoral Register published in October 2010.

Where is our HALF MILLION EURO man appointed by Minister San Tonio cucmalti Fenech ? Just wait till the General Election comes and Air Malta will be swamped with blue eyed voters coming here for 10 euros. Dear Mr HALF MILLION EURO man, you can tell by now already. What are you waiting for ? Addio restructuring. Maybe at least we'll have his comments.

The call centre at Air Malta must have made a fortune charging €0.75 per minute to everyone who was kept on hold for HOURS to book their ticket!!! Little trick to get those liberal migrants! :) they probably put one slow old lady on purpose to man the phone line so as to increase their profits!!! you won't be flying in for €35 only it seems...

And hey, I forgot this crucial point - we're one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, or so we're told, so why can't these people vote on-line or by proxy as is the case in other countries?

1. Is the government going to fork out the difference in price or is Air Malta going to bear the brunt? 2. Is the government going to ensure those people availing themselves of this offer are actually going to vote in the referendum, or at least queue up and hand in their voting document at the polling station - or is this just another freebie for the chosen few?

Perhaps bringing over our non-residential bretherin could backfire. After all they are currently living in countries which have far greater freedoms than what the church is imposing on Malta and can see what life SHOULD be like.

Can we get the same fares from Malta :) ? After all these people will be coming for a cheap holiday with the excuse of voting, that is if they ever bother to go and vote. How come we do not get the same treatment as Mlatese working abroad. After all we pay taxes as well!

Air Malta is on the verge of saying that over 600 employees are redundant or unecessary and at the same time they are forced to issue low cost flights to bring people to Malta to vote for divorce!!! What a pathetic situation has been created by the current irresponsible government!!!!
