Health ministry signs collaboration agreement with Johns Hopkins

The Ministry for Health, the Elderly and Community Care has commissioned Johns Hopkins Medicine International to carry out a systems review and needs assessment at Mater Dei Hospital.

The scope of the exercise is to assist Mater Dei Hospital and its staff to plan for its present and future needs, focusing on key areas of hospital operations.  Through their world class expertise, Johns Hopkins Medicine International will be supporting our health care professionals and management in reviewing its systems with the aim of enhancing hospital efficiency to continue to improve access and the quality of service delivered to Maltese patients.

This is in line with Government's stated objective that Malta should become a healthcare centre-of-excellence for the Mediterranean region within the wider context of this Government's Vision 2015 for Malta.

Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI) is the international wing of Johns Hopkins Medicine which mission is to improve the health of the community and the world by setting the standard of excellence in medical education; research; and clinical care.  Johns Hopkins Medicine is one of the top medical institutions in the United States and will draw upon their extensive knowledge base and experience in medicine; nursing; public health; and health services management to provide these services to the Ministry and Mater Dei Hospital.
