Pietà mayor welcomes local bus route amendments

Pietà mayor personally catches bus to Valletta to test amended routes...

Pietà mayor Malcolm Mifsud said that the “personal intervention” made by Transport minister Austin Gatt to improve service routes was successful.

Nationalist mayor Mifsud said that "judging by comments" received from Pietà and Gwardamangia residents, the new 122 bus route, which started on Sunday 6 November, was “much needed”.

“Yesterday, I felt that I had to catch the bus to Valletta to personally see that this route was indeed working according to agreements made. I was satisfied with the service which was an improvement from recent services, as well as the service offered before the reform,” Mifsud said.

Mifsud said the council went directly to the Transport Ministry and Transport Malta to insist that the bus should stop at the city entrance. Mifsud also requested that the complaints regarding routes to and from Mater Dei Hospital should also be addressed.

“Before Sunday, there were difficulties because residents had to stop at the Floriana Mall which caused an inconvenience for them because they had to go into the city to go back home,” Mifsud said.

The Pietà mayor added that on the second day of the new route operations, the local council received no complaints from residents and was a substantial difference to the number of complaints received last July.

The council encouraged the residents of Pieta and G’Mangia to make use of the amended public transport service.

If the “personal intervention” made by Transport minister Austin Gatt to improve service routes was successful, why did Dr. Gonzi down-grade him? Why bother testing routes from Pieta to Valletta...just walking distance away? You got u humourous vein like our Prime inister? Min irrid jithaq b'min?
