PN could win elections without programme if utility bills are reduced – Arrigo

Former Sliema mayor Robert Arrigo says public’s main concern is the utility bills and if oil prices go down, the Nationalist Party would have no problems winning the elections.

Nationalist MP Robert Arrigo says there are no big issues which would force the electorate to choose one party over the other, except utility bills.

"The public's main concern is the utility bills. We would definitely win the elections if this problem is solved," Arrigo tells Saviour Balzan during an interview on Reporter.

He adds this would be possible if oil prices go down in January, leading government to reduce the water and electricity bills: "If the cost of utility bills go down, we would win the election without a programme."

Arrigo adds government and Enemalta receive several proposals on how utility bills could be reduced: "I assure everyone both government and Enemalta analyse all proposals which come through. What's better for government than to reduce the cost of water and electricity without affecting the exchange rate or oil price? It would be fantastic."
