41-year-old charged with defiling minor

A 41-year-old from Birkirkara was accused in court this morning of having defiled and participated in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl, who is now four months pregnant.

He is accused of defiling a 14 year old girl, and police Inspector Melvyn Camilleri said that Stephen Borg has attempted to approach the minor and her parents in an attempt to 'fix things' soon after he knew a report was filed against him.

Police have asked the court to provide for the security of the minor and her family.

Police argued that Borg phoned the girl and had now caused worry to her parents who are now burdened with taking the girl to school and back.

The court has been informed that the minor is also allegedly pregnant.

Police said that Borg - who works with a cleaning contractor with the Gzira local council - had lied to the parents telling them he was 26.

Magistrate denied call for bail.
