The University of Malta has a new €8 million IT Services Building, incorporating state-of-the-art IT facilities for students and University staff.

The centre, built alongside the new Faculty of ICT, which is currently receiving its finishing touches, houses extensive videoconference facilities with the possibility to link up to 12 separate sites concurrently in Malta and abroad and the University's main data centre.
The project was part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which provided 85% of the funds.
Following the inauguration of the IT services building, the Prime Minister was shown around a section of the building of the ICT Faculty which is nearing completion. The building which cost around €17 million, was also co-funded by the EU's ERDF.
The Prime Minister announced that in April, the University would be signing a memorandum of understanding with China, which will result in Chinese students coming to Malta to undertake their studies.
