Energy minister in second visit to Qatar

Business news portal reports a Maltese delegation led by energy minister Konrad Mizzi met Qatari energy and industry minister Mohammed bin Saleh al-Sada.

In his second official visit to Qatar in less than two months, Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi today met the Qatari Energy and Industry Minister Mohammed bin Saleh al-Sada.

According to business news portal 4-traders.com, a delegation accompanied the Maltese minister.

"Talks during the meeting covered means to enhance cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries and other issues of mutual interest," the website reports.

Same as before, the meeting was held at Qatar Petroleum headquarters and was attended by Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al-Kuwari, President of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) as well as by senior Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) executives.

The website also reports the meeting was attended to by Shive Nair, "the consultant to the Maltese Prime Minister" and a delegation of Maltese officials.

Nair, group managing director of the British North Borneo Company Ltd, is described as having spent his entire career, working with Governments in Africa, CIS and Latin America.

In 1996, he was appointed the first foreign advisor in the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, a role that was replicated subsequently in several of the CIS countries.

Among his past and present advisory positions are Political Advisor to The President of Kalmykia, Advisor on International Finance to The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Advisor on Debt Restructuring to The Prime Minister of Grenada, Advisor on International Finance to The Minister of Energy, S Sudan, Advisor on Debt Financing to The Governor of The Central Bank of The Maldives. Advisor on International Energy Acquisitions, Poly Energy China. Project Advisor to CAMCE, CCECC, Sinopec, China Railways, CETC, China Shipbuilding and Sinoma.

Nair has private interests in oil exploration, mining, agriculture and logistics.
