No licences yet for fireworks manufacturers as summer approaches
Manufacturers concerned over ‘delay’ in exam results as summer fireworks orders are yet to be completed.
The Ministry for Justice and Home Affairs is in the final steps of publicising the results for the pyrotechnics licence ‘A’. Exams were held three months ago.
By law, Licence A manufacturers have to be present inside a fireworks factory whenever fireworks manufacturers with licences B, and C, are inside.
The ministry said the delay in publication of the written exams is “nothing in particular” but fireworks enthusiasts say the ministry knows that once the results are out, manufacturing of fireworks will proceed at an accelerated speed so that this summer’s fireworks orders can be completed.
The ministry said the reviewing of exam papers is necessary to ensure security is not compromised when conferring the licence ‘A’.
Firework manufacturing follows a strict protocol of seasons and weather: not every type of firework can be produced on hot days, while different types are manufactured between November and February.
