Transport Malta issued 67 direct orders in 12 months
Entities and departments falling under five ministries issued a total of 185 direct orders between 30 September 2013 and 1 October 2014
A total of 67 direct orders were issued by Transport Malta in 12 months, information tabled in parliament shows.
In reply to questions raised by Nationalist MP Mario de Marco to four ministers, the government confirmed that a total of 185 direct orders were issued by entities and departments falling under the responsibility of the Transport (67), Justice (20), Home Affairs (37), Economy (41) and Environment ministries (20).
The period covers between 30 September 2013 and 1 October 2014.
In the case of the Tourism Ministry, minister Edward Zammit Lewis said the information was still being compiled.
No explanation was given as to what the direct orders entailed. However all four ministers replied that “all direct orders respected the government’s procurement regulations”.
