EU Justice Ministers held a meeting to discuss the regulation of a proposed European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The proposed EPPO will be an independent body that will be tasked with investigating and prosecuting EU-fraud and other financial crimes. The Office will have exclusive EU-wide jurisdiction to deal with suspicions of criminal activity falling under its remit. It will be led by a European Public Prosecutor, and investigations will be carried out by European delegated prosecutors located in each EU member state.

In a statement, the Maltese justice ministry said that the ministers discussed ways of facilitating the process through which states recognize sentences concerning matrimonial laws and parental responsibility that were handed out in other EU countries.
