Rough weather forces cancellation of CHOGM events in Gozo
Gozo Business Chamber express disappointment that Gozitan businesses made to 'suffer the consequences of the absence of a permanent tunnel between Malta and Gozo'
Rough weather on Thursday and the consequent suspension of the Gozo Channel ferry services forces CHOGM-related in Gozo to be cancelled.
In a statement, the Gozo Business Chamber expressed their disappoint that Gozitan businesses “after so much preparation, have had yet again to suffer the consequences of the absence of a permanent link between the two islands”.
“We reiterate our position of the need of a subsea tunnel between Gozo and Malta, and augur that government will accelerate its plans for this much-needed infrastructural investment,” Gozo Business Chamber chief executive Joseph Grech said.
Gozo was originally scheduled to host a delegation from the Commonwealth People’s Forum, who were set to tour private industries on the island.
The Commonwealth Writers were also scheduled to host a short story workshop in Gozo for local writers that would have tackled topics such as idea generation, writers’ block and story structure.
