Vella presents draft Communiqué to be adopted at CHOGM

Foreign minister George Vella presented the draft Communiqué that Commonwealth foreign ministers have worked on and finalized and that will be adopted at the CHOGM summit.

Speaking in his capacity as the Chair of the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting that took place over the past two days, Vella reported to the Commonwealth Heads of Government about the deliberations held at Foreign Ministers’ level on items which will also be on the Leaders’ agenda during their Summit.

In a statement, Vella said that he elaborated on themes ranging from sustainable development, migration, violent extremism and radicalisation and small states issues.

Commonwealth Heads of Government were also briefed on the outcomes of the various fora that took place on the margins of the CHOGM which resulted in a number of detailed proposals which were well received by Foreign Ministers yesterday.
