Konrad Mizzi gives speech on energy at Economist summit
Minister Konrad Mizzi addresses The Economist's Mediterranean Leadership Summit, less then a day after Cabinet reshuffle sees him lose health and energy portfolios but maintain Cabinet position
Newly demoted minister 'without portfolio' Konrad Mizzi is addressing the Mediterranean Leadership Summit – a two-day conference organised in Malta by the Economist.
Mizzi, under pressure for having opened an offshore firm in Panama, had his energy and health portfolios stripped off him on Thursday, However, he will remain as a “minister without portfolio” in the Office of the Prime Minister and will be given “special tasks”, including the implementation of the LNG power station project.
Mizzi’s participation as part of a panel on energy networks in The Economist’s conference has been confirmed for a while, and his schedule hasn’t been changed despite Thursday’s Cabinet reshuffle.
The other speakers on the theme ‘Energy networks and security of supply in Europe’ at the Hilton Hotel include Azerbaijan’s energy minister Natig Aliyev, Algeria’s Forum of Business Leaders vice president Salah Eddine Abdessemed, and Rothschild deputy chairman Paolo Scaroni.
