Washington suspect 'admits' gun attack
A man who was remanded in custody after being linked to the Washington mall shooting that killed five on Friday has confessed to the crime
The man suspected by police of carrying out Friday's deadly mall shooting in Washington state, that killed five people, has confessed, according to charging documents.
The alleged shooter, 20-year-old Arcan Cetin, was arrested in his hometown Oak Harbor on Saturday, nearly 24 hours after the attack in Burlington, 40 minutes' drive away, after authorities received a tip that linked him to the shooting "as a person of interest," the Skagit County Department of Emergency Management said.
Cetin now faces charges on five counts of first-degree murder and is being held on $2 million bond.
Investigators reportedly said they are not ruling out any motives, including terrorism. According to the Associated Press, Cetin's postings online included references to a serial killer and Adolf Hitler, as well as pictures of Daesh leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomenei.
Cetin apparently had a "falling out" with his father before the shooting, the arrest warrant declaration in the case shows. Cetin's father said the two had dinner around 4:30pm that evening, according to documents. His father said Cetin left, "saying he was going to work that night.
Cetin's stepfather said that he has a history of mental health issues.
Cetin's mother helped to identify him from surveillance camera images released by police.
The arrest warrant said Cetin allegedly used a Ruger 10-22 that had a 25-round magazine.
