50kg of cannabis seized in Ragusa, destined for Malta

More than 50 kilograms of cannabis, which were destined for Malta, have been seized by police at the Port of Pozzallo in Ragusa.

Nicola Musumeci, a 46-year-old man from Catania was arrested together with his 20-year-old daughter. The woman was also carrying her 3-year-old child.

The two were detained as they were boarding the catamaran to Malta.

Father and daughter were said to have appeared very anxious, raising the suspicions of the authorities. Police officers then searched their vehicle where 20 kilograms of cannabis resin, and about 30 kilograms of dried cannabis were found.
