Iran hangs Dutch woman arrested in anti-government protests

An Iranian-Dutch woman, arrested after taking part in anti-government protests in Iran in 2009, was hanged for drug smuggling.

A woman smuggler named Zahra Bahrami, daughter of Ali, has been hanged today for the possession and selling of narcotics," semi-official Iranian news agency Mehr reported on Saturday, quoting the court.

The 45-year-old woman's daughter was quoted by the rights Group International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran as saying the drug charges were fabricated after Bahrami was arrested for taking part in protests in December 2009.

Mehr reported that she had been found guilty of smuggling cocaine into Iran from the Netherlands and was found with 450 grams of the drug in her possession. Iran does not recognize dual citizenship

What the West should do is boot all Iranians out of their countries back to Iran. This country is still living in the middle ages and thinks it can impose its laws on the rest of the world. I used to feel sorry for the Iranian people but I don't anymore. If this is the way they want to live then to hell with them.

How much more propaganda to fuel hatred against Iran so Israel can push for another war?.The Arab world is erupting with Egypt looking to follow Tunisia, I think the west should keep its eye on the Middle East instead of Iran.

I wonder how our there EU is going to react to this barbaric act on a European person (living in Iran) from the Iranian regime...Will it stand for the rights of the European people and act or will it just use the same old rhetoric and use soft diplomacy to bury this serious issue?! What will it be?
