One day before the much-anticipated ceremony, Kate was joined by best man Prince Harry, bridesmaids and pageboys as well as members of her family.

St James's Palace said it was the last time Miss Middleton or a member of the Royal Family would be at the Abbey before the service gets under way.

A big rehearsal lasting 90 minutes was held on Wednesday night involving all the principal individuals involved in the ceremony.

Among the group were Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who will marry the couple, and the bride's father Michael Middleton.
