Food enthusiasts launch BBQ association

New NGO has a delicious - and healthy - purpose

Barbecue fans need not wait till summer to get their grill on. A recently founded NGO puts the art of outdoor cooking right into their mission statement.

"The Malta BBQ & Grilling Association's (MBGA) primary objective is to promote grilling and barbecuing as a healthy method of food preparation and cooking in an entertaining environment," says board member Andres Toompere.

MBGA’s founders come from all walks of life and have one passion in common - that of cooking food in a fun way. "Encompassing traditional and contemporary barbecue and grilling styles together with using innovative equipment and skills, our mission is to share recipes, cooking styles and enjoy such food in a most enjoyable and casual fashion," explains Toompere.

Of course you don't have to be barbecue buff to benefit from the Association's expertise. "The MBGA also offers nutritional tips not only to BBQ lovers but indeed to anybody who enjoys eating."

The MBGA's official launch is set for the 27 March. Members can also look forward to the MBGA BBQ Weekend, which will be held between the 9 and 11 May with the participation of world renowned BBQ guru and European Champion Mr Enn Tobreluts from Estonia.

Tobreluts is well-known for surprising his audience with his unique ways of marinating, seasoning and cooking meats, fish, vegetables and a wide spectrum of other ingredients.
