[WATCH] Segmenting oranges
Oranges are great to use in salads, however the membrane can be a little bitter. Remove the membranes to make your salads look like they were created by a professional! Watch Sean Gravina slice through those orange segments with the ease of a pro.
Segmenting oranges
Ingredients
- 1 orange
- Coarse salt
- Pinch rosemary, finely chopped
Method
- Cut the top and tail off of the orange.
- Carefully slice the peel away from the orange including the bitter pith (the white part).
- Careful not to cut your fingers (or hands), make a slice into the orange segment as close to the membrane as you can until you reach the centre of the orange.
- Cut along the next membrane to the centre of the orange and a segment of flesh should fall away from the orange.
- Repeat until all segments have been removed.
- Squeeze the remaining juice over the top.
- Sprinkle orange segments with coarse sea salt and finely chopped rosemary.
