Ingredients
- 5 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp plain flour
- 4 cups Benna whole milk
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 clove garlic
- ¼ small onion
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp mustard
Method
- Start the béchamel by melting the butter in a small saucepan.
- Add the flour and cook on a medium heat, stirring all the time, for about 2 mins. Make sure the mix doesn’t brown much.
- Slowly add the milk to the saucepan as you whisk.
- Smash the clove of garlic and add it to the saucepan along with the salt, garlic, onion and bay leaf.
- Keep cooking and whisking on a low heat for about 10 mins or until sauce is thick and creamy.
- Stir in the mustard and use immediately.
