Craft beer and barbecue at The Villa
Brew Haus, this time at The Villa will be pairing The Belgian Beer Project and Brasserie de la Senne’s craft brews with barbecued food by The Villa Chef Patron Chris Hammett on 5 May at 18:30.
Brew Haus will be showcasing five different craft beers from two microbreweries in Brussels at their next food pairing event on 5 May. This will be Brew Haus’ second beer pairing event, following the success of March’s pairing event with Badass Burgers.
Chef Patron Chris Hammett from The Villa has designed a special menu for the evening that is bold and sophisticated, experimenting with how the very different tastes of the five distinct craft beers can be best paired with the Mediterranean fusion dishes for which The Villa has gained a reputation.
Guests will be welcomed with canapés on arrival, smoked swordfish with saffron aioli and Parma ham and truffle scented chive cream, to be washed down with Brew Haus' latest import Zinnebir, a golden ale from Brasserie de la Senne which has a distinct aftertaste to whet your appetite.
With the summer season so close, The Villa are taking this opportunity to welcome guests onto their terrace, offering something that screams Maltese summer – barbecues. What better way to wind down after a day of work than with a smokey barbecue and a cold one overlooking the stunning Balluta Bay.
The first dish is barbequed calamari and chorizo salad with aged balsamic and rocket which is paired with the very well balanced and popular wheat beer, Grosse Bertha.
Moving quickly up the bitterness scale, a grilled spiced pork belly with summer vegetables and a melon and chilli dressing will be adventurously paired with the Babylone, a one-of-a-kind bread bitter which is known for its explosive taste.
The final savoury dish is a classic Mediterranean BBQ dish, a crusty tagliata of beef, caramalised onions, grilled tomatoes and Parmesan shavings, paired with a Delta, the distinctly smooth and fruity India Pale Ale (IPA) by Brussels Beer
Project.
Finally, there will be chocolate truffles to end on a sweet note. And these aren’t just any chocolate truffles, but these have been especially infused for the night with Dark Sister, a Black IPA which is known for its hints of coffee and cocoa.
As is customary in all BrewHaus events, guests will be provided with some insights into the flavours of the beers and how they have been paired with the food and encouraged to share their thoughts.
Each guest will then pick their favourite beer and have a full bottle served by the bar, or even to take-home in case the previous samples were enough! Craft beer is known to be a bit higher in alcohol volume than mass-produced beers.
The guys at Brew Haus want you to take something home with you, so patrons will be given a bespoke, laser-cut, wooden coaster to commemorate the event. More of these will be available at different Brew Haus events and collecting the series will entitle you to a Brew Haus treat later on in the year. More information to come.
To be part of the night, contact 77414843 or [email protected] to reserve a ticket.
Tickets are €40.
