alli provides free advice on weight loss
During European Obesity Week, from 21 – 27 May, alli will offer overweight and obese individuals the opportunity to receive free personal advice by a registered nutritionist on how to make lifetime changes to lose extra kilos for good.
Registered nutritionists in various parts of Malta will be available to provide overweight and obese individuals useful advice on changes in their diet and lifestyle to reach and maintain their desired weight. Persons need to be over 18 years with a Body Mass Index of 28 kg/m² or more.
Individuals interested to benefit from this free service may send an email to [email protected] or call 21 243 211 from Monday to Friday between 8.30 and 5 pm until May 13. Availability of appointments is on a first-come-first-served basis.
alli is the first and only EU-licensed, clinically proven weight loss aid available without prescription to help adults lose 50% more weight than by dieting alone. Used in conjunction with healthy eating and a more active lifestyle, alli helps users achieve and maintain a sustainable weight. For adults with a Body Mass Index of 28 kg/m² or more, alli works by blocking about 25% of fat in the food from being absorbed into the body, so for every 2 kilos lost through an individual’s own efforts, alli can help lose 1kg more.
A study commissioned by alli showed that nearly a quarter of Europeans surveyed said expert support was important to help them reach their goal. A third of respondents also said they wanted clear instructions telling them exactly what to eat and 40% of them said they wanted an exercise programme that’s fun and easy to do.
Monica Abdilla, Country Manager for GlaxoSmithKline, manufacturers of alli, said: “Overweight and obesity problems are complex issues which cannot be tackled single-handedly. Studies have shown that behavioural support increases weight loss success and these behavioural changes may simply mean setting achievable goals, like healthier food choices and more physical activity. These small, sustained changes will enable one to achieve steady and gradual weight loss that will enable them to enter a cycle of ongoing healthy behaviours for sustainable weight loss.”
alli is a medicinal and contains orlistat. Always read the product leaflet and consult your doctor, or pharmacist for advice.
