Great week for Marsa
What a busy week for cricket in Malta where the home side took on two touring teams in two , two game series. Ampthill Town C.C is no stranger to the islands and were on their seventh tour to the island while the Cricketers C.C from Richmond were on their first tour. The games commenced on Thursday and carried on till Sunday.
The first game , a twenty over encounter was against Ampthill. The home side batted first and made an impressive 164 runs from their overs, Frank Spiteri top scoring with forty eight runs. Richard Hardy took two wickets while Tom Degnan took one.
Great bowling from the home side kept the visitors at bay , containing them for 129 runs in their twenty overs, Richard Haxell was top scorer with twenty eight. Sarfraz Ali was the main wicket taker for Marsa with three. Marsa win the first game.
The second game was against the Cricketers C.C who batted first and made score of 123 runs where Matt Grace top scored with twenty eight runs. Gordon Hewitt and Graham Lobban took two wickets each for the home team. Nowell Khosla top scored with fifty seven runs and Andrew Naudi thirty five runs had the home team win the game in the eighteenth over. Matthew Banton was the main wicket taker for the visitors with three.

The third game, now into forty over cricket had Ampthill batting first and posting a moderate score of 194 runs. A.Reynolds top scored with fifty one runs. Mike Caruana was the main wicket taker with three. Another brilliant innings from Nowell Khosla worth sixty seven runs and an even better partnership of sixty nine runs between John Grima and Joy Ghoseroy helped the home side over the line in a thrilling game. Jeremy Degnan, Richard Hardy and Aaron Reynolds all took two wickets each. A series win to the home side.
The fourth game was against Cricketers C.C , who batted first and posted 235 runs and would have been quite comfortable with that score. A.Gentle top scored with fifty six run, M.Lynch made forty eight runs and C.Summers made forty five. Feroa Ahmed Akbar was the main wicket taker for the home side with two.
The visitors were perplexed by an opening batsmen by the name of Haroon Majeed who smashed eighty runs from thirty five balls which blew the game out of their reach. Sanjay Singh made forty two , Niraj Khanna forty one, Bikram Arora thirty and Ronnie Sacco twenty three runs. G.Collins managed to take two wickets.
The Marsa team win the series and made it four wins in a row.
