MFRA condemns Valletta President's comments at GO Malta Football Awards
Valletta President Victor Sciriha's speech at yesterday evenings GO Malta Football Awards were condemned by the MFRA.
Victor Sciriha went up on stage to accept an award for one of his players when he made some comments referring to the last five minutes of the FA Trophy match were Valletta lost to Floriana in respect to the referee.
The comment was said in a joking manner, but it was not taken lightly by the MFRA. During Sciriha's speech, he even joked with one of the hosts Rodney Vassallo regarding the match. Host Catherine Micallef tried to interrupt the Valletta President during his speech with no success.
The MFRA released this official statement:
The Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA) unreservedly condemns the comments made by Mr Victor Sciriha (President of Valletta FC) in respect of Paul Caruana, one of the members of the association, which comments were made during a speech of acceptance of a prize at the Go Malta Football Awards.
The MFRA and all its members wish to show solidarity with the said official and reiterate their support to Mr. Caruana, who always performed his official duties seriously and with professionalism. The MFRA is considering taking the necessary legal steps to safeguard the rights of all its members.
