Valletta edge past Balzan
League leaders Valletta had to work hard for their victory over Balzan Youths. With this victory, Valletta move nine points clear of second place Hibernians. Hibernians who have a game in hand, will have a tough test against Sliema Wanderers today.
Valletta managed to score seven minutes into the match. William Barbosa had his powerful shot beat Balzan goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri.
Valletta managed to take control of most of the match, but could not extend their lead against a stubborn Balzan side.
Balzan's best chance to equalize arrived on the 69th minute. Nikola Tasic served Forace who then had his shot from inside the area deflected into a corner by goalkeeper Yenz Cini.
With this defeat, Balzan remain in sixth place, three points behind Sliema who still have a game in hand.
William Barbosa was voted BOV Player of the match.
