Qormi edge closer to securing Premier League status

Qormi put in a fantastic performance yesterday afternoon when they defeated Marsaxlokk 5-1.

This victory moved Qormi closer to securing a place in the Premier League for next season, while Marsaxlokk are on the verge of playing in Division 1 next season.

Qormi did not have to wait long before they took the lead. Just four minutes into the match, Clive Brincat brought down Abubakar Bello-Osagie inside the area.

Bello-Osagie made no mistake from the penalty spot to beat goalkeeper Christian Cassar to give his team the early lead.

Qormi were full of confidence and after just two minutes they managed to double their lead. Abubakar Bello-Osagie served Jorge da Silva Pereira to have the latter beat the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper with his low shot.

On the 24th minute, Jorge da Silva Pereira found the target again after receiving a precise pass from Bello-Osagie.

Jorge da Silva Pereira scored his third goal of the match on the 40th minute. A direct freekick by Pereira left no chance for the Marsaxlokk goalkeeper.

Marsaxlokk managed to reduce the gap when they scored their first goal of the match on the 66th minute. A fine solo effort by Jean Paul Farrugia left no chance for goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.

Qormi where not satisfied and on the 90th minute when Abubakar Bello-Osagie scored his second goal of the match.

Jorge Pereira da Silva was voted the BOV Player of the Match.
