Hibernians win, Valletta celebrate
Hibernians managed to beat Valletta 2-1 on the last day of the BOV Premier League.
Hibernians managed to end Valletta's 26 game unbeaten run.
Valletta would go on to celebrate their 21st championship as the match ended.
Valletta started the match with some good scoring chances, but it would be Hibernians that would go ahead.
On the 11th minute, Hibernians were awarded a penalty when Steve Borg handled the ball inside the area.
From the penalty spot Clayton Failla coverts to give Hibernians the lead.
Valletta managed to score the equaliser on the 19th minute. Off a pass by Denni Rocha dos Santos, Michael Mifsud advanced into the area made no mistake with his low shot to beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat.
As both teams continued to fail to take advantage of their chances in front of goal.
On the 54th minute, Hibernians were awarded another penalty when Saidou Mady Panandetiguiri brought Luis Edison Dos Santos doen inside the area. Clayton Failla's shot from the penalty his the woodwork for the score to remain 1-1.
On the 75th minute, Hibernians would not be denied as they regained the lead.
A cross by Andrew Cohen found Bjorn Kristensen who then headed the ball past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.
After the match Valletta's captain Gilbert Agius was presented with the BOV Premier League trophy from MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo
Mario Muscat was voted BOV Player of the Match.
