Darmanin Demajo’s aide installed as chief executive officer of Malta Football Association
Sportinmalta.com reports that Norman Darmanin Demajo’s right-hand man and main campaigner Bjorn Vassallo, has been officially appointed as CEO of the Malta Football Association.
“The idea to introduce the role of a CEO within the MFA’s structures was one of Darmanin Demajo’s main priorities in a bid to structure the Malta FA administration in a more professional and business-minded way.”
News that Vassallo was appointed as CEO was communicated in yesterday’s MFA Council meeting, which was chaired for the first time by the new President.
Darmanin Demajo’s committee presented to the Council a revamped organizational structure for approval.
Deputy secretary-general for international affairs Joe Cassar has been retained as a full-timer, which means he will resign his post as chief executive of the Malta Sports Council.
Other appointments include the new role of deputy secretary-general for competitions, which goes to Rodney Pisani, whilst Maria Tanti is deputy sec-gen for grassroots, youth development and education. Louis Micallef retains his duties as deputy sec-gen for administration.
Malta Futsal Coach Vic Hermans was offered the post of Head Technical Centre, whilst former Head of Communications Mark Muscat will be responsible for the Technical Centre’s and National Teams’ PR. Mark Attard was handed PR duties for all domestic competitions. Former grounds manager Gorg ‘Bobby’ Micallef has ben employed as an Accounts Clerk.
Pauline Basile Pace, personal assistant to former president Joe Mifsud, has been retained by Darmanin Demajo.
The council approved Mifsud and Dr Giuseppe Mifsud Bonnici as Honorary Presidents of the MFA.
