Greens hope to continue fight for fourth place
Naxxar face Balzan at the Victor Tedesco Stadium
Floriana will be hoping to strengthen their chances of finishing in the top four when they take on a disappointing Tarxien side on Saturday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Floriana will be a tough encounter for the struggling Rainbows as the relegation threatened side look for precious points in their pursuit for survival in what is surely their most disappointing campaign since their promotion to the top division.
The greens are again looking to be on the right track after previously being beaten by direct rivals Balzan and failing to beat Qormi. They have however returned to winning ways last weekend with a comfortable win over Pieta Hotspur.
The two teams will certainly enter the encounter with particular determination with both sides needing points to continue aspiring for their different ambitions.
Despite some inconsistencies throughout the season, the greens still managed to keep the pressure on Balzan who have kept fourth place for the majority of the season.
Tarxien have a full squad available for this important test while Floriana will be without the suspended duo Matteo Picciollo and Sacha Borg.

Lions aim to continue good form in difficult test
Naxxar face an important test of their survival hopes when they take on high flyers Balzan in the second match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
Jesmond Zerafa’s team seem to be finding their feet recently particularly after beating Zebbug 4-0 which has seen them move to ninth place however just two points above the drop zone; while Balzan on the other hand extended their positive run which has kept them occupying fourth place.
Oliver Spiteri’s good mix of young and experienced players particularly in attack helped Balzan achieve unexpected results this season and fourth place is evidence to that. They will have no easy task however despite their opponents’ position in the tables as the Lions will be eager to maintain their late form to reduce their relegation worries.
A win for Balzan would see them move temporarily to just one point behind third placed Valletta, while three points going the other way would mean the Lions moving up to seventh level on points with Mosta.
