Pepe saves Juventus as Milan are held by Sampdoria

Juventus needed a late equaliser thanks to Simone Pepe, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by rivals Fiorentina.

The match did not start well for Juventus as on the fourth minute a own goal by Marco Motta put Fiorentina ahead. Juventus pressed to get the equaliser. Juventus could have had the lead at sever moments during the match, but some excellent goalkeeping by Fiorentina’s Artur Boruc kept Juventus at bay. But on the 82nd minute Juventus found the back of the net with a fantastic free kick by Pepe. In the earlier match Milan were held by Sampdoria to a 1-1 draw. Milan were hoping to extend their lead in the standings but they had to settle for a point. If Lazio defeat Catania today, Milan will only have a one point advantage over second place Lazio. Milan had the first half under control and Robinho gave them the lead just before the end of the first half on the 43rd minute. Sampdoria had to wait till 58th minute of the second have to get the equaliser. Pazzini found the back of the net on the 58th minute to foil Milan’s plans for victory.
