Inter defeat Parma in seven goal thriller

Rafa Benitez’s Inter seems to have put the crisis behind them after defeating Parma 5-2.

This victory will surely keep the press off the back of Benitez and add much needed confidence to the injury stricken European and Italian champions.

It was not all fantastic for Inter in the beginning of the match as after some confusion in front of goal, ex-Inter player Hernan Crespo found the back of the net to put Parma in the lead just after four minutes.

Inter started to press and after some fine work from Jonathan Biabiany, Stankovic put Inter level after receiving a great pass from Biabiany with his shot deflecting off of Alessandro Lucareli on the 18th  minute.

Exactly a minute later Stankovic got his second for Inter to make it 2-1 after his shot deflected off of Parma’s Luca Antonelli.

On the 23rd  minute off a Wesley Sneijder corner, Cambiasso made it 3-1 after he tapped the ball in at the far post.

Crespo did not waste any time to put Parma back in the match on the 36th  minute after some careless defending by Marco Materazzi.

In the second half Parma did have some bad luck as they struck the woodwork on two occasions. Parma started to gain confidence, but Inter substitute Thiago Motta, who is just coming back from a long injury layoff, found the back of the net on the 73rd  minute.

Exactly two minutes later, Dejan Stankovic got his third of the match when he concluded after receiving a great pass from  Sneijder.

Inter are now seven points behind Milan.

Next Friday, Inter will have one of the most important games in recent weeks as they take on second place Lazio, as they look to continue on their road to recovery and gain points on rivals Milan.
