Lazio fail to close in on Milan

Lazio could have moved one point behind Milan today if they had defeated Catania.

It was not to be as Lazio and Catania played to a 1-1 draw. Matias Silvestre gave Catania the lead on the 44thminute, but Lazio’s Hernanes pulled one back on the closing minutes of the first half.

Antonio Di Natale was on fire as he scored a hat-trick to lift Udinese with a 3-1 win over Napoli. This defeat for Napoli keeps them out of the top three in the standings. Marek Hamsik got the only goal for Napoli and the outcome of the match could have been different as Hamsik also missed a penalty.

Brescia and Genoa played to a goalless draw in a pitch full of snow.

Cagliari held on to defeat Lecce 3-2.

Cagliari’s Alessandro Matri scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of the match. Michele Canini added a third just before half time.

Lecce came out fighting in the second half as Ruben Olivera and David Di Michele put Lecce back in the game. But it was not enough and Cagliari held on to collect all three points.

Bari and Cesena played to a 1-1 draw to share the points.

Giuseppe Colucci put Cesena in front from the penalty spot after Donati brought down Luis Jimenez in the area. Cesena’s lead did not last long as Caputo found the back of the net for Bari two minutes later.

The Bologna – Chievo match was postponed due to bad weather.
