Arsenal go top as Chelsea are held
Champions Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw against Everton at Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon.
The defending champions took the lead thanks to a Didier Drogba penalty on the 41st minute.
In the final minutes of the match, Everton crippled Chelsea’s hopes of winning after Jermaine Beckford received a cross from Baines to head the ball in past goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Cheslea still seem unsettled even though John Terry was back with the team. This draw will surely add more pressure on the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.
This result leaves Chelsea with just one win in their last six league games.
Samir Nasri scored twice for Arsenal to put them on top of the Barclays Premier League standings as they defeated Fulham 2-1.
Arsenal are still not at their best as the defence still is unsettled.
Samir Nasri scored the first goal of the match on the 14th minute.
Arsenal’s lead did not last long as Fulham’s Diomansy Kamara took advantage of some poor defending from Arsenal. Clint Dempsey passed to Kamara who made no mistake on his finishing.
Samir Nasri saved the day for Arsenal as 15 minutes from time he scored again to make it 2-1.
This result leaves Arsenal at the top of the standings by one point as Manchester United’s match against Blackpool was postponed due to bad weather.
In other matches:
Ten-man Manchester City seem to be getting back into form as they defeated Bolton 1-0. This leaves them only two points behind Manchester United.
Tottenham threw away their lead against Birmingham to finish in a 1-1 draw.
Blackburn defeated Wolves 3-0 to send them to the bottomof the table.
And finally Wigan and Stoke shared the spoils as they played to a 2-2 draw. Stoke remain in the top half of the standings as Wigan are in the relegation zone.
