Sliema and Marsaxlokk fail to gain ground
Sliema Wanderers and Marsaxlokk failed to win all three points after they played to a 1-1 draw.
As both teams started off quietly in the first half, the first real attempt on goal was close to the half hour mark.
Marsaxlokk left it late in the first half to take the lead. On the 40th minute, after goalkeeper Ini Etim Aktpan punched the ball out for safety off a cross from Malcolm Licari, Ruben Guerreiro Gravata took advantage of the rebound and secured the goal for Marsaxlokk.
Early in the second half, Sliema found the equaliser. Clayton Failla provided the assist for Jackson Lima Sequeira who controlled the ball to then shoot a powerful shot towards goal to beat Marsaxlokk goalkeeper Reuveb Gauci.
Both teams continued to try to get the winning goal, but they both had to settle for a point each.
With this result Sliema remain in 8th place as Marsaxlokk remain in 6th place.
