Inter stroll into final
Inter Milan booked their place into the FIFA World Club Cup final by putting three goals past Seongnam Ilhwa in Abu Dhabi.
The match could not have started worse for Inter as playmaker Sneijder had to leave the match due to a hamstring injury in the opening minutes.
As Thiago Motta came in to replace Sneijder, Inter did not waste no time to go ahead on the third minute. Dejan Stankovic broke through the Seongnam defence to have his shot go past goalkeeper Jung Sung-Ryong.
On the 32nd minute Inter captain Javier Zanetti made it 2-0. Thanks to great backheal pass by Milito, Zanetti made no mistake finding the back of the net.
By this time Inter showed they mean business and are taking this competition seriously. The team looked focused and had the determination that the fans were used to seeing last season.
Milito sealed the issue on the 73rd minute when off a pass from Stankovic to Eto’o in the area, Eto’o’s shot was pushed away by Sung-Ryong into the path of Milito who shot the ball home.
Seongnam Ilhwa only had a couple of good chances on goal from set pieces. The Korean side could not break down the organised Italian side.
Benitez managed to inject confidence into the team and has shown when he has all the players available, Inter will be at their best again.
Now Inter take on the African champions Mazembe in the final Saturday evening. It will be a tough match for the Italian champions as the African side have a fantastic counter attack and are very fast with the ball.
