Hibernians back to winning ways
Hibernians defeated Hamrun Spartans 4-2 to register their first win in over four months.
Hibernians took the lead early in the match, but Hamrun ended the first half with a goal advantage. In the second half Hibernians worked for the three points and scored three to register the win.
Hibernians took the lead on the 11th minute thanks to Edward Herrera who beat Hamrun’s goalkeeper Omar Borg with his shot.
Hamrun did not take long to equalise as they got back into the match on the 15th minute. Massimo Grima scored from close range after Hibernians failed to clear the ball after a Hamrun freekick.
Hamrun pressed for the lead and it arrived four minutes before the end of the first half. Gaetan Spiteri set up Ryan Fenech who beat Hibernians goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his diagonal shot from the right.
Bjor Kristensen leveled matters for Hibernians on the 60th minute when he headed the ball in off a cross by Ryan Camilleri.
Hibernians managed to take the lead again on the 75th minute. Paul McManus scored from close range after receiving a pass from Herrera.
Hamrun were not helped by Ryan Fenech’s sending off after receiving a scond yellow card on the 87th minute.
Hibernians left no chance for Hamrun to get back into the match after they made it 4-2 in added time. Steve Pisani dribbled past the Hamrun goalkeeper score the goal.
