Birkirkara defeat Marsaxlokk with ease
Birkirkara defeated Marsaxlokk 4-1 to move second in the BOV Premier League standings.
This result leaves Birkirkara six points behind leaders Valletta and Marsaxlokk in fourth place.
Birkirkara looked the better side from the start of the match.
The Stripes took the lead on the 34th minute. Ibrahim Babatunde served Ryan Scicluna who made no mistake by beating goalkeeper Reuben Gauci with his shot.
Just before the end of the first half, Birkirkara doubled their lead when goalkeeper Reuben Gauci deflected a header by Trevor Cilia, Michael Galea picked up the rebound and served Ibrahim Babatunde whose close-range shot beat the Gauci.
Birkirkara made it 3-0 on the 76th minute when Michael Galea’s shot beat goalkeeper Reuben Gauci after Ryan Scicluna setup the play.
Marsaxlokk reduced Birkirkara’s lead on the 88th minute when goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo failed to intercept a cross by Martin Deanov to find Alfred Effiong pick up the rebound and shoot the ball home.
Birkirkara restored their three goal lead one minute from time thanks to substitute Emiliano Lattes solo effort.
