Czech skater Michal Brezina shared his impressions: "The Opening was amazing!!! It's really awesome feeling having the whole team around and walking in front of millions of people watching you!

"Being here now is the best feeling in the world!" - tweeted German snowboarder Anke Karstens.

Twice Olympic champion Michelle Kwan admired the Olympic flame lighting ceremony: "So proud that my former coach Irina Rodnina (3 time Russian Olympic Champion) lit the flame to the Olympic Games!!!! So exciting!!!”

Meanwhile, German women's team hockey goalkeeper Jennifer Hars was already thinking about the upcoming tournament while at the Ceremony: "The Opening Ceremony was just brilliant. Now the Games have started, and on Sunday we are playing the Russian team," – she wrote.
