HMS Liverpool sunk by Marsa C.C

The National team batted first. Nowell Khosla and Andy Lenard opened the innings.  Khosla was the first to go being well caught by Mike Grima at short mid wicket, Khosla had made four runs.

Tim Wheeler was in next and soon was back in the pavillon. Andy Naudi joined Lenard and set some stability to the batting. Naudi made twenty runs before being caught by Malcolm Crabbe.  Justin Brooke did well scoring thirteen runs.

Lenard finally retired after scoring a well timed sixty two runs including two sixes and three fours. Mark G Sacco also batted well making nineteen runs. The side totalled 157 runs. For the Marsa side George Agius and Mike Caruana both took three wickets being the main wicket takers.

In reply the Marsa team literally fell apart and were bowled out for 59 runs. Only Bikram Arora stood out scoring twenty eight runs, none of the other batsmen made it past double figures and from those only one made more than five runs. For the National team Andy Naudi was the main wicket taker with three while Nowell Khosla and Amit Chopra both took two.

Last Tuesday the Marsa team took on HMS Liverpool. The Marsa team batted first and batted well with Bikram Arora making fifty four runs including four sixes and three fours, Malcolm Crabbe and Mirza Jatinder both making twenty eight runs and John Grima making nine runs. For the HMS, R.Gray, T.Kirk and Spencer took a wicket each.

In reply the HMS Liverpool were mesmerised by the Marsa bowlers and were bowled out for a mere 35 runs. Higest score came from Gray who scored seven runs and Pollard scored six runs. For the Marsa team, Tony Slater was the main downfall for the HMS Liverpool taking three wickets and he also took three catches, Kevin Krishna, Justin Brooke and Bikram Arora all took two wickets each.

Next Saturday another friendly will be played. On Sunday the National team will depart to Belgium to play in the division two European championship.
