Alex Borg in last 16 of European Championships

Maltese reigning Champion Alex Borg made it through to last 16 in Sofia with a   4-0 win on Ivailo Pekov of Bulgaria. Alex made it look easy against the Bulgarian player when he took less than an hour to whitewash Pekov.

Today Borg will face a tough match against Daniel Wells of Wales who made part of the Welsh team winner of the European Team Championships in Malta this year.

Roberta Cutajar is through to the quarter finals of the European Snooker Championships held in Sofia with a 3-1 win over Russian cueist Irina Gorbataya.

Cutajar is showing good form in Bulgaria and will now meet Anne Hirsch of Germany. Hirsch together with Diana Stateczny (Team Germany) were crowned European Snooker Team Champions in Malta earlier this year.

Simon Zammit on the other hand was unlucky to lose 4-2 against Adam Duffy of England.

In what was a close encounter, Duffy led the game from beginning to end with Zammit having to level up on 1-1 and 2-2 until unfortunately for him , the Englishman won the fifth and sixth frame that paved his way to a last 16 encounter against Michael Leslie of Scotland.
