The duo formed by Kenneth Vella and Joanne Cassar bagged the first point for Paola in the Mixed Doubles. The two took control of the match from start to finish, beating Mark Briffa / Grace Saliba, 21-4 21-8.

Matthew Abela made it 2-0 for Paola in the closest encounter of the evening. The U-16 National Champion took the first set against Chris Spiteri, 21-15, but suffered Spiteri's comeback in the second, 17-21. Abela regained control of the match in the third as Spiteri seemed to have exhausted all his energy in drawing level, 21-9.

The Paolites secured the match as Jacqueline Grech Licari claimed the Women's Singles. Paola's upcoming talent found little trouble in defeating Grace Vella Incorvaja, 21-6 21-6.

Even with the match steadily in their hands, Paola did not seem to have had enough. They also claimed the Men's Doubles thanks to Henrik Thomsen and Owen Grech who had the better of George Camilleri and Chris Spiteri in two straight sets, 21-9 21-7.

Cassar and Grech Licari sealed a 5-0 win for their team as they won the Women's Doubles match against Saliba / Vella Incorvaja. The latter tried hard to keep up with the Paolite pair but still ended on the losing side, 21-8 21-5.

With this convincing win Paola BC gave a clear statement to rivals Birkirkara, stating clearly their intentions of putting their hands back on the title.

Paola BC will be facing Birkirkara Go & Fun on the 17th February 2014 at Kirkop Sports Complex. The match starts at 19:00hrs.
