Updated | Elderly woman hit by car in Mosta, passes away

A woman has died after she was hit by a car in Mosta this morning.

The accident took place in Eucharistic Congress Road at 9:25am and involved a Toyota Dyna driven by a 68-year-old man, resident of Mosta.

According to reports, the woman, 77, also a resident of Mosta, was hit after emerging into the street from in between two parked cars close to the pedestrian crossing, and died on impact.

The road has been temporarily closed to traffic and a magisterial inquiry has been launched by duty magistrate Charmaine Galea.
