In the Press: No new deadline for Parliament building completion

The 2015 local council elections will go ahead as planned and will be held in conjuction with the spring hunting referendum once the constitutional court approves it. Those elections due in 2017 will be postponed to 2019, to coincide with the next MEP elections.

The Opposition yesterday filed a motion for PM Joseph Muscat's pre-electoral promise - a new powerstation by March 2015 - to be discussed in parliament. The motion comes in the wake of the PM's admission that the structure would not be ready by that deadline.

6.5% more passengers made the crossing between Malta and Gozo in the third quarter of this year than the same period last year. This amounts to almost 1.5 million passengers, with the majority traveling in August.

Contractor disagreements and material shortages are to blame for the delay in the Parliament building's completion, according to Infrastructure minister Joe Mizzi and the head of the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation. No projected date was given for the completion of the project.
